Welcome to the Lions Summer Camps brought to you by Charles E. Smith Jewish Day School! This summer camp offers individual sport programs for any student entering 5th-12th grades.

Lions Summer Camps are designed to help campers improve their skills, while having fun at the same time! Lead by our dedicated, educated, and highly trained Camp Directors, campers will enjoy the opportunity to learn from some of the best coaches in the area.

The 2019 program offers a fun line up programs. Camps are held at either the CESJDS Upper School Campus (11710 Hunters Lane, Rockville, MD) or Lower School Campus (1901 E. Jefferson St, Rockville, MD).

Programs

The mission of the Lions Summer Camps 2019 Program is to offer a supportive and educational environment that fosters the growth of confidence and self-esteem in sports-specific activities. With an emphasis on teamwork and sportsmanship, each camper will receive individual instruction from our talented Camp Directors who serve as positive role models and spirited coaches.

Lions Basketball Camp

The Basketball Camp will help you take your game to the next level! This camp for students in the 5th-12th grade will develop all of their basketball skills - shooting, passing, dribbling, rebounding and defense. Please note: The Boys Basketball Camp will be held at the CESJDS Lower School Campus (1901 E. Jefferson St., Rockville MD). The Girls Basketball Camp will be held at the Upper School.

 

Boys Basketball Camp

Session I: 6/17-6/21 (9:00 AM - 3:30 PM)
Session II: 6/24-6/28 (9:00 AM - 3:30 PM)

For ages: 11-17

Location: Lower School Campus

Rates: $300 per session; Campers who sign up for Sessions I and II will enjoy a $50 discount, for a total of $550

Girls Basketball Camp

Session I: 6/17-6/21 (12:30 PM - 3:30 PM)
Session II: 6/24-6/28 (12:30 PM - 3:30 PM)

For ages: 11-17

Location: Upper School Camp

Lions Volleyball Camp

The Lions Volleyball Camp will offer individualized instruction for students in 5th-12th grade, of all abilities and skill levels. Have fun while improving your game as you learn basic fundamentals, develop proper mechanics and gain game experience. You'll get intensive work in all phases of volleyball with both group and individual drills.

Session I: 6/17-6/21 (9:00 AM-12:00 PM)

Session II: 6/24-6/28 (9:00 AM-12:00 PM)

For Ages: 11-17

Lions Tennis Camp

Lions Teen Art Camp

Week 1

Experience a fun and energizing program to help you grow creatively and explore principles of art and elements of design! We will use a diverse range of media including color pencils, ink, acrylic paint and paper. A focus will be placed on abstract art while looking at cubism and expressionism. Family and friends will be invited to an art exhibit on Friday, June 21st to see students’ striking finished work.

  • Lunch 12-1 Students should bring a lunch (no refrigerator or microwave available)
  • Max of 15 students
  • Please wear clothing that can be stained

Week 2

Dive into a week of creative exploration and skill building! A focus will be placed on printmaking and bookmaking. We will use a diverse range of materials including ink, acrylic paint, fabric and paper. Family and friends will be invited to attend a art exhibit on Friday, June 28th to see students’ impressive finished work.

Rates: $320 per student; Students must bring lunch. If you sign up for Sessions I & II you will receive a $50 discount for a total of $600.

Each session is listed on a per camper basis. Several discounts apply for campers who sign up for multiple sessions and additional add-on available for Early Drop-Off option.

  • Campers who sign up for both sessions of any camp will enjoy a $50 discount off of the total cost

Early Drop Off Option

You will have the option to sign up for early drop-off (8:00-8:45 AM) when applicable to the camp you signed up for. Early Drop Off is an additional $50 for each session.

David Breslaw
Lions Boys Basketball Camp Co-Director

The camp will be directed by David Breslaw, currently the head varsity coach of the boys basketball team at Richard Montgomery High School.  He is in his thirteenth year of coaching basketball in Montgomery County and seventh year as varsity head coach at RM.  He coached RM to three consecutive division titles from 2014-17 and in 2019 when a regional championship was also achieved.  His record at RM currently stands at 118-50.  Coach Breslaw is also a former player, graduate and current teacher at Richard Montgomery.   He is also a proud husband and father to three children.
