Ceramics
In our Ceramics studio, which features six pottery wheels, a kiln, and slab roller, middle and high school students work with their hands to create functional and nonfunctional work. Individualized instruction allows each student to thrive as a novice, and as an expert, while learning the valuable skill of perseverance. A variety of ancient and modern techniques are employed, learned through teacher demonstrations and research, which play a vital role in skill development. As the oldest known art form, the rich history of clay motivates students to find their own creative styles. Finished work is photographed by the students for portfolio development and proudly displayed throughout the school. Each wheel thrown pot, historical mask, pinch pot, wind chime, and many other diverse pieces, reflect the dedication students maintain while working with the challenging and rewarding medium of clay.
