Field Trips

Each year every student in the Upper School attends a Theatrical Performance and an Art Museum Tour at one of the many Arts venues in the Washington DC area.  Past trips have included:

  • Newsies at Arena Stage
  • In the Heights at Olney Theatre
  • Comedy of Errors at the Shakespeare Theater
  • 12 Angry Jurors at Ford’s Theatre
  • The Curious Incident of the Dog In Nighttime at Roundhouse Theater
  • Brighton Beach Memoirs at Theater J
  • The National Portrait Gallery and American Art Museum
  • The Baltimore Museum of Art

Guest Artists

We are fortunate to have had many guest artists meet our students and share their experiences as artists and performers.  Our students have heard from:

  • Ethan Slater, Tony-nominated star of Spongebob Squarepants: the Musical on Broadway (and CESJDS alum!)
  • Hanoch Piven, world-renowned celebrity portrait artist
  • Maulik Pancholy, star of 30 Rock and co-founder of the anti-bullying campaign Act to Change
  • David Moss, international Judaic artist
  • Cheik Hamala Diabate, Grammy-nominated musician, storyteller, historian and world-recognized master of the ngoni  
  • Gideon Glick, Tony-nominated star of Broadway’s To Kill a Mockingbird
