Asher Epstein '92

Asher Epstein '92 has extensive experience advising, growing and managing emerging firms both in the United States and internationally. He has traveled extensively with a focus on building entrepreneurship and innovation in emerging markets and has work experience in China, Israel and Egypt. Asher is a frequent lecturer on topics including: opportunity recognition, global entrepreneurship and new venture creation.

His entrepreneurial spirit began at CESJDS.

"When I was in 11th grade, I was in charge of running the Purim carnival. It was my first larger scale entrepreneurial venture," Asher said. "Pulling off the school-wide carnival involved everything from developing a financial plan, to marketing, logistics and of course constantly trying to sell. I think our year set a school record for profit at that time and it was really a satisfying experience for me to be a part of and helped give me the further confidence in my entrepreneurial skills."

From 2004 - 2012, Asher was the managing director of the Dingman Center for Entrepreneurship at the University of Maryland's Robert H. Smith School of Business. Asher was responsible for overseeing the center's strategy and operations, including business incubation, start-up funding and international operations. He is currently the Chief Financial Officer of VIVA Creative, a live event production and marketing firm.

"As a graduate of both the Charles E. Smith Jewish Day School and the Robert H. Smith School of Business, I am quite grateful to the Smith family for their tremendous generosity supporting education in the Washington, DC area," he said. "I have now spent a combined 23 years of my life at a Smith school!"

Asher lives in Chevy Chase with his wife Smadar and their three children, Dalia, Ami and Tomer.
