After graduating Phi Beta Kappa, Cum Laude, Rachel won an NIH Intramural Research Training Award and worked in the Arthritis and Rheumatism Branch at NIAMS. She completed her Internal Medicine internship and residency at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center, and her Allergy/Immunology fellowship at Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh.

After practicing Allergy/Immunology in Pittsburgh, in 2005 Rachel and husband Dan decided it would be best to move home to Maryland to be closer to family, and allow their children to experience the unique education, values and community at CESJDS.

“My years at CESJDS were extraordinarily important ones, giving me a sense of self, of values and of history. They also prepared me extremely well for the rigorous academic experiences that were to follow,” Rachel said.

She opened the Family HealthCare Allergy and Asthma Specialists in Germantown, where she is the Medical Director today.

Rachel has published numerous articles in peer reviewed scientific journals, and is co-author of “Allergic Rhinitis” in Pediatric Otolaryngology. She is a 2008 and 2010 Washingtonian Magazine “Top Doctor” and has been named one of “America’s Top Physicians” by the Consumers’ Research Council of America. She is a member of numerous local and national medical and professional societies, and served as a Board Member for the Pennsylvania Allergy and Asthma Association. She is a mentor for students in the Women’s Entrepreneurial Leadership class at George Washington School of Business.

In 2007 Rachel co-founded Mommy Docs, LLC, to educate the public on practical pediatric issues, from the standpoint of moms who are also doctors. She ran a website, and was a regularly contributing columnist to local and national magazines. She was interviewed numerous times as the featured medical expert on radio, and local and national television. In 2009, she traveled to Hollywood to guest co-host the nationally syndicated show The Doctors.
