CESJDS Alumni Board of Advisors

The CESJDS Alumni Board of Advisors is an elected board which works alongside the Associate Director of Alumni Relations to engage alumni through outreach, programming, and communications. The focus of the Alumni Board is to connect in the following ways: alumni to other alumni, alumni to current CESJDS students, faculty, and staff, and alumni with the larger CESJDS Jewish community.

Eric Silberg '95, Co-Chair

Eric Silberg ’95 is a JDS lifer. After graduating, he attended Cornell University and earned his bachelor’s degree and University of Maryland, College Park for a master’s degree in aerospace engineering. He works for the Navy at NSWC Carderock and is Director of the Unmanned Aerial Systems Lab. Most importantly, Eric is married to Mira Silberg and together they have two children, Alec (Grade 8) and Lyla (Grade 5) at JDS.

Alex Tuvin '05, Co-Chair

Alex graduated JDS in 2005 and University of Maryland, College Park with a degree in Accounting in 2010. He currently works as a CPA for Thompson Greenspon in Fairfax, VA and recently completed the CESJDS Leadership Training Program this spring. Alex is married to Rebecca Goldstein who also graduated from JDS in 2005, and they both are in touch with several people from their graduating class as well as Rebecca’s younger siblings' graduating classes, 2009 and 2011.

Sharon Byer '06

Sharon Byer ’06 graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 2010 with a degree in Strategic Communications from the School of Journalism. Upon graduating, she continued moving west to San Francisco starting a career in advertising. In 2016, she was finally ready to move back east to NYC.

Sharon works at the advertising agency Droga5 where she has led and managed a variety of accounts including United Rentals, Chase for Business, Mattress Firm, Ancestry.com, and Audible. Sharon’s sister, Amy, graduated from JDS in 2008. 

Gabrielle (Gabi) Charnoff '10 

Gabrielle (Gabi) Charnoff ’10 earned her BA magna cum laude from the University of Miami.  She double majored in Economics and International Studies, with a double minor in Political Science and Business Administration, and was in the Honors Program. Gabi is an Associate at SoftBank Latin America in Miami, Florida. 

Gabi has been involved with the Multifaith Alliance for Syrian Refugees, an organization that supports aid efforts to internally displaced and urban refugees from the Syrian civil war.  She is also an active fundraiser for the Michael J Fox Parkinson’s foundation, in honor of her father.  

Four of Gabi’s brothers and sisters attended JDS, as well as two of her nephews.

Geoff Chesman '92,  Immediate Past Co-Chair

Geoff Chesman ’92 received a camera for his Bar-Mitzvah and fell in love with photography after taking the photography elective in 7th grade at JDS. His first assignment was assisting his teacher, Sandy Kavalier, at weddings and B’nai Mitzvahs. She referred Geoff to his first paying client 25 years ago and he still loves what he does today. Geoff lives in Potomac, MD with his wife Jodi, and their children Abby (Grade 7) and Ryder (Grade 3), who also attend JDS.

Beth Lemberger Frank ’83

Beth Lemberger Frank ’83 is a long-term substitute teacher at JDS. She lives in Brookeville, MD with her husband and thirteen-year-old twins. In her free time she likes to read, exercise, and spend time with her family. After attending the 2nd Annual Schmooze-a-Palooza last February, she is excited to join the Alumni Advisory Board to plan future alumni events and become more involved in the JDS alumni community.

Adam Hochman '90

After graduating from JDS in 1990, Adam studied Political Science at the University of Maryland and received his MBA at the University of Texas.  He does business development work for Benefitfocus; the organization builds portals that help employees enroll in and manage their benefits.  Adam, along with his wife (another native Washingtonian) and their three sons are members of Temple Emanuel.

Maya Lieber '12

Maya attended JDS from Kindergarten through Grade 12, and was the last of her siblings to graduate from the School.  While a student at JDS, Maya was very involved in Zimriyah and arts nights.  She also danced ballet outside of school at Maryland Youth Ballet.  After graduating from JDS, Maya attended University of Maryland, College Park and received a degree in Civil Engineering and a minor in Sustainability Studies in 2016.  She currently works as an engineer for Clark Construction. Fun fact: Maya studied abroad in Copenhagen and biked everywhere!

Jackie Ochs Williamowsky '99

Jackie attended JDS from Kindergarten through Grade 12.  Jackie’s grandmother, Masha Cohen, was one of the first Hebrew School teachers at JDS in 1965.  Jackie graduated from NYU in 2003 and American University, Washington College of Law in 2006, where she was President of the Jewish Law Students Association.   A partner with the firm Arness, Potkin & Williamowsky, PLLC, Jackie now practices real estate law in Washington, DC.  Jackie lives with her husband and four children in Bethesda, MD and is a member of Beth El Congregation in Bethesda.

Jonathan Ochs  '09

Jonathan attended JDS from Kindergarten through 12th grade along with his siblings, Jackie (Williamowsky) ’99 and David ’02.  Their grandmother, Masha Cohen, was one of the first Hebrew School teachers at JDS in 1965.  

Jonathan was Vice President of his class junior and senior year and after graduating, headed to University of Maryland and earned a degree in Philosophy.  Today, Jonathan is a wholesale diamond dealer traveling throughout the greater Washington area. He has always been involved in Jewish and pro-Israel nonprofits and together with David, formed an organization called HaLev which aims to engage and involve young professionals in pro-Israel affairs and raises money to subsidize and send young professionals to the annual AIPAC conference.

Dan Reichmann '88

Dan Reichmann ’88 attended Georgetown University for his Bachelor and Master’s degrees, and the Smith School of Business at the University of Maryland for his MBA. He lives in Gaithersburg, MD with his wife and three children. Alex (Grade 8), Ari (Grade 8), and Kira (Grade 6) all have attended JDS since Kindergarten. Dan works for the General Services Administration as a Branch Chief in the Office of Fleet Management, but seems to spend more time photographing Montgomery County Road Runner Club (MCRRC) races, coaching soccer, or volunteering for Montgomery Soccer Inc. (MSI). He and his family are members of Shaare Torah congregation.
