CESJDS Alumni Board of Advisors

The CESJDS Alumni Board of Advisors is an elected board which works alongside the Associate Director of Alumni Relations to engage alumni through outreach, programming, and communications. The focus of the Alumni Board is to connect in the following ways: alumni to other alumni, alumni to current CESJDS students, faculty, and staff, and alumni with the larger CESJDS Jewish community.

Geoff Chesman '92
Co-Chair

Geoff Chesman '92 fell in love with photography at an early age and quickly found himself drawn to photographing people and events. He has steadily grown his business over 25 years in the Washington, DC area and his company, ImageLink Moving Pictures, now offers both photography and videography services delivering impact for Weddings, B’nai-Mitzvah and Businesses. Geoff lives in Potomac, Maryland with his wife Jodi, and their two children, Abby a sixth grader at CESJDS, and Ryder, a second grader at CESJDS.

 


Alex Tuvin '05
Co-Chair

Alex graduated CESJDS in 2005 and University of Maryland, College Park with a degree in Accounting in 2010. He currently works as a CPA for Thompson Greenspon in Fairfax, VA and recently completed the CESJDS Leadership Training Program this spring. Alex is married to Rebecca Goldstein who also graduated CESJDS in 2005 and they both are in touch with several people from their graduating class as well as Rebecca’s younger siblings' graduating classes 2009 and 2011.

 


Rina Bardin '14

Rina attended CESJDS from Kindergarten all the way through high school and was a part of the student government. She is graduating from the University of Rochester this month with a BA in Health Policy and a minor in Art History, and is moving back to the DC area to work as a healthcare consultant at Avalere Health. Rina is excited to become involved with the CESJDS alumni community and is looking forward to working with the Alumni Advisory Board.

 


Maya Cohen-Shields
Class of 2019 Representative 

Maya has been at CESJDS since Kindergarten, following her two older siblings who were also lifers at CESJDS. CESJDS has always been an important aspect of Maya's life in and out of the classrooms. She has been on the girls’ soccer team since 9th grade, class vice president, and is a newly elected editor-in-chief of the Dimensions yearbook. Maya has always enjoyed learning and particularly in English class and science classes.

 


Michael Fishman '98
Boston Regional Chair

Michael Fishman loves CESJDS. After graduating in 1998, he continued as a Lion at Columbia College in the City of New York. While at Columbia he was pre-med, majored in music and lived with fellow alum Adam Lurie '98. After college, Michael taught special education at the Ivymount School in Potomac, MD prior to medical school at George Washington University, graduating in 2007. His post-graduate training included an internship at the Washington Hospital Center, radiology residency at Albert Einstein Medical Center in Philadelphia, PA and breast imaging fellowship at Massachusetts General Hospital in Newton, MA. Michael is a radiologist specializing in breast imaging at Commonwealth Radiology Associates, working in the North Shore region of Boston, MA.CESJDS was essential in developing his interests and shaping his Jewish identity. The friendships established from Kindergarten still are strong and were instrumental in his marriage as Michael met his wife, Shira, at the wedding of his classmate Adam Lurie '98 to Becky Cole. Michael and Shira live in Newton, MA with their three daughters - Orly, Yael, and Meital.

 


Beth Lemberger Frank '83

Beth Lemberger Frank ’83 is a long-term substitute teacher at CESJDS.  She lives in Brookeville, MD with her husband and thirteen-year-old twins.  In her free time she likes to read, exercise, spend time with her family and after attending the 2nd Annual Schmooze-a-Palooza last February, she is excited to join the Alumni Advisory Board to plan future alumni events and become more involved in the CESJDS alumni community.

 


Rachel Milner Gillers '94

Rachel is a mediator, facilitator and conflict management consultant. She has helped clients including the United Nations, the International Monetary Fund, Pfizer, and the U.S. Department of the Interior to identify and overcome interpersonal and organizational barriers to reaching agreement. She teaches Negotiation and Mediation at Georgetown University’s Law School and McCourt School of Public Policy and, with her husband and 3 sons, is an active member of Ohev Sholom Synagogue.

 


Marcia Chapman Glickman '85
Philadelphia Regional Chair

Marcia unequivocally states: “My CESJDS education was the best present that my parents every gave me.” Her lifelong commitment to the Jewish community and Israel stem directly from spending her formative years at CESJDS.

Marcia and Scott Glickman have been happily married since June 1991. Marcia and Scott have four children: Hannah (21), Sarah (19), Tali (17) and Noah (14). All of them are Jewish day school educated.

Marcia graduated from CESJDS in 1985. She received a B.A. from Barnard College in 1989 and a JD from Yale Law School in 1993. She has worked as a special education/disability rights lawyer and a child advocate. From 1998 through 2012, Marcia taught on a variety of law school faculties including the UConn Law School, The National University of Singapore School of Law and most recently at University of Pennsylvania Law School. Since January 2012, Marcia has worked as a Senior Case Manager and Mediation Coordinator at UPenn’s Office of Student Conduct.

 


Scott Goldfarb '07

Scott graduated CESJDS in 2007 and Boston University with a degree in Mechanical Engineering in 2011. He is a second generation CESJDS graduate as his father, Saul Goldfarb, was in the first class of CESJDS and he is one of three brothers to attend the school from kindergarten through high school. After moving back from Boston in 2013, Scott joined Goldfarb & Associates and helps run the Rockville based company. He continues to be involved in many of the Jewish institutions and communities he grew up with, including Beth Shalom synagogue in Potomac, Maryland and Camp Ramah in New England.

 


Adam Hochman '90

After graduating from CESJDS in 1990, Adam studied Political Science at the University of Maryland and received his MBA at the University of Texas.  He does business development work for Benefitfocus; the organization builds portals that help employees enroll in and manage their benefits.  Adam, along with his wife (another native Washingtonian) and their three sons are members of Temple Emanuel.

 


Jackie Zitelman Horvitz '06
Israel Regional Chair

Jackie Zitelman Horvitz, class of 2006, received a BA from the Interdisciplinary Center (IDC) in Herzliya where she majored in Conflict Resolution and a Master's in Environmental Studies at Tel Aviv University. She is currently a resource development coordinator for The Abraham Fund Initiatives, a non-profit that promotes coexistence and shared living between Israel's Arab and Jewish citizens.

In addition, Jackie, her two sisters Shelby ('03), and Amy ('07), and her husband Omri, started a tahini company in the United States called Soom Foods. Jackie and Omri currently reside in Jerusalem.

 


Maital Dahan Legum '04
New York Regional Chair

Maital Dahan Legum is a graduate of the class of 2004. She is currently a Director at the New York Stock Exchange's Global Index and Exchanged Traded Products (ETP's) group. In her role she works with current and prospective ETP issuers to drive the expansion of their product lines on NYSE Arca. Maital's responsibilities include consulting in the early stages of product development, assisting in establishing relationships between ETP issuers and our Lead Market Makers, and shaping unique media and marketing opportunities at the NYSE. Prior to joining the NYSE, Maital was a member of the sales team at FTSE, the index company, where she worked on new business opportunities, client retention, and strategic initiatives.

Maital earned a M.S. in Accounting from the Sy Syms School of Business as well as a B.S. in International Business and Logistics, Transportation, and Supply Chain Management, and a B.A. in Government and Potlitics from the University of Maryland.

When she's not at work Maital is an active member of the Jewish community in New York City and serves as a volunteer staff member with Taglit Birthright Israel.

 


Maya Lieber '12

Maya attended CESJDS from Kindergarten through Grade 12, and was the last of her siblings to graduate from CESJDS.  While a student at CESJDS, Maya was very involved in Zimriyah and arts nights.  She also danced ballet outside of school at Maryland Youth Ballet.  After graduating from CESJDS, Maya attended University of Maryland, College Park and received a degree in Civil Engineering and a minor in Sustainability Studies in 2016.  She currently works as an engineer for Clark Construction. Fun fact: Maya studied abroad in Copenhagen and biked everywhere!

 


Jackie Ochs Williamowsky '99

Jackie attended CESJDS from Kindergarten through Grade 12.  Jackie’s grandmother, Masha Cohen, was one of the first Hebrew School teachers at JDS in 1965.  Jackie graduated from NYU in 2003 and American University, Washington College of Law in 2006, where she was President of the Jewish Law Students Association.   A partner with the firm Arness, Potkin & Williamowsky, PLLC, Jackie now practices real estate law in Washington, DC.  Jackie lives with her husband and four children in Bethesda, MD and is a member of Beth El Congregation in Bethesda.

 


Jonathan Ochs  '09

Jonathan attended CESJDS from Kindergarten through Grade 12 along with his sister Jackie Ochs Williamowsky ’99 and David Ochs ’02.   While attending CESJDS, Jonathan was Vice President of his class junior and senior year and after graduating, headed to University of Maryland where he earned a degree in Philosophy.  Today Jonathan is a wholesale diamond dealer traveling throughout the greater Washington area.  Jonathan has always been involved in Jewish and pro-Israel nonprofits and together with David, formed an organization called HaLev, which aims to engage and involve young professionals in pro- Israel affairs and raises money to subsidize and send young professionals to the annual AIPAC conference.

 


Jonathan Polon  '92

Jonathan Polon '92 attended Tufts University and served for four years in the Navy after participating in the Navy ROTC program. After graduation from business school at the University of Michigan, Jonathan worked at American Express and TrueCar in New York before moving back to Maryland. He currently works in business development for Brivo, a security company based in Bethesda. Jonathan lives in Rockville with his wife Jenny and daughters Anna, a fourth grader at CESJDS, and Sophie, a first grader at CESJDS.

 


Farrah Walls Zweig '00
Los Angeles Regional Chair

Farrah graduated from CESJDS in 2000. She currently owns and operates her own personal training and nutrition counseling business in Los Angeles, CA. Farrah has been a personal trainer and health fitness specialist since 2002, starting at L.A. Fitness and progressing her business to open up her own company, T.O.T. Fitness, in 2005.

In addition to her health and fitness enterprise, Farrah is married and has two beautiful children. Following graduation from CESJDS, she attended San Diego State University; graduating Summa Cum Laude with a B.S. in Kinesiology with an emphasis in fitness, nutrition, and health.
