English
In Middle School English, students study the relationship between identity and community through a range of texts designed to challenge critical reading and writing skills. 7th grade English builds on both the skills gained in the 6th grade humanities program and our study of the individual by introducing community. We look at a variety of genres, including graphic novel, poetry, drama, and fiction, to challenge students to think about the role of the individual in the context of a larger community. In 8th grade, students begin to grapple with questions of justice and ask themselves how to take action in order to be agents of change within their communities.
