Smith Fellows

Smith Fellows

Rockville, MD

Job Code: SF100

The Charles E. Smith Jewish Day School is seeking to hire a cohort of Smith Fellows to meet our unusual staffing needs in the 2020-2021 school year. Smith Fellows will be onsite to assist all divisions, allowing CESJDS to meet our students and teachers' needs to minimize the risk of spreading Covid-19.

This paid position will be full time, 7:45 AM-4:00 PM Monday through Friday. While much of the time will be spent in the classroom with students, there will be other duties assigned that include hallway monitoring, programming support and supporting students during scheduled breaks.

Fellow's responsibilities may include rotating into classrooms to provide teachers with planning time and breaks, supervised distance learning for the students, substituting for faculty absences, and assisting with arrival, dismissal, and hallway monitoring.

This program is geared toward recent high school graduates and recent college graduates who have a commitment to the Jewish community and an interest in continuing to participate in Jewish education or Jewish communal service following this program.

Fellows will have excellent opportunities for learning, mentorship, exploration, and growth in a supportive, pluralistic Jewish community. Smith Fellows will be supervised by the Special Programs and Activities Coordinator and participate in all applicable faculty professional development. The Smith Fellows will have weekly meetings with Division Heads, as well as other administrators within the school to learn about the skills and practices of those in leadership positions at CESJDS. Additionally, the Fellows will have numerous opportunities for networking across different fields throughout the extent of their fellowship.

The fellowship will last through June 30, 2021, unless arrangements have been made with the Special Programs and Activities Coordinator.
