The Charles E. Smith Jewish Day School in Rockville, MD is seeking candidates for a full-time Middle School Spanish teaching position for the 2019-2020 school year.
The ideal candidate is a creative, charismatic educator with native or near-native Spanish proficiency, a proven record of enacting ACTFL standards in everyday instruction, strong background in second language acquisition, experience and/or training in curriculum development, and 3 or more years of successful teaching in a variety of language levels in middle school. Preference given to candidates who also have experience teaching at the high school level.
The ideal candidate will have experience with project based learning and experiential education, demonstrated success at and enjoy working as an active member of a team. The candidate will possess strong interpersonal skills, have a strong record of positive behavior management, is comfortable with and skilled at working with a range of learners, and enjoys working with young adolescents.
●Teaching Spanish classes to middle school students in grades 6-8, including participation in team meetings to develop and refine curricula;
●Teaching a weekly advisory or other experiential education course;
●Sponsoring and overseeing a Spanish club;
●Participating in team meetings to discuss student progress;
●Other duties as assigned.
Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree preferred.
