Over the last two months, Tidhar "Teddy" Wurmser (Grade 9) had a grueling training and ski race schedule in the framework of the Whitetail Mountain Racing team as part of the US Ski and Snowboard Association (USSA) racing program, which is the official feeder structure for the US national and Olympic ski racing team.
In the last two months, Tidhar finished in the top ten for the combined USSA's Maryland/Pennsylvania Pennsylvania Alpine Racing Association (PARA/USSA) central division, and thus qualifies to advance to State finals, where he will compete against the 39 best racers from all over the State. Pennsylvania has one of the largest competitive programs nationwide, covering NY, Philadelphia, Baltimore and DC suburbs as well as Pittsburgh and other major cities.
The USSA/PARA State Championships will be held this Friday, Saturday and Sunday (Feb 22-24) i n Blue Mountain in the southern Poconos. It is a highly competitive field, with margins decided often by 1 or 2 1/100ths of a second, but the top 8 of the 40 at these State-level finals will advance to east coast finals to try to earn a spot on the 40-man US national racing and Olympic team.
Good luck Teddy!
