Mrs. Lenore Layman
M.A., Special Education Learning Consultant, New York University
I have been working at CESJDS for 8 years and have been a proud parent at the school for many years. Three of my children have already graduated and are "lifers" and my youngest is currently in 12th grade. My oldest daughter lives in NYC and is currently a special education teacher. My two other children are studying at the University of Maryland.
I have been working in the field of special education for 32 years. I grew up in New York and attended Brooklyn College and NYU for graduate school. I began my career teaching in two Jewish special education programs in the New York/New Jersey area: PTACH (Parents for Torah for All Children) and SINAI. Making Jewish day schools accessible to students with diverse learning needs has always been a dream and goal of mine.
In the eightyears I have been leading our ESS department, our department has grown to currently include 12 faculty members who are dedicated to the same goals.
When I am not dreaming of new ways to improve and expand our support services, I enjoy cooking, reading, traveling and spending time with my family.
My oldest daughter teaches at the SINAI program in New Jersey, the same program that I began my career at!
