Upper School Admissions
The Upper School of the Charles E. Smith Jewish Day School (grades 7-12) offers an excellent education in both general and Judaic studies. Our students benefit from a wide variety of electives and co-curricular activities. Because of the rigueur and diversity of the curriculum and the number of courses they take, our seniors are able to graduate in February. Their journey continues with an optional, once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to participate in a class trip to Eastern Europe and Israel for three months.
We invite students to apply for grades 7-10. We offer special classes to help facilitate the transition to a Jewish day school for students entering from public and private schools. Students applying from other Jewish day schools may apply for any grade. If you are interested in applying for entry in grades 7 through 11, please complete our online Inquiry Form.
Admission to the Charles E. Smith Jewish Day School is based on a student’s academic qualifications as well as his/her potential to contribute to and benefit from the life of the School. We encourage students who are interested in grades 7-11 to spend time shadowing a student to experience a "day in the life" of a CESJDS student.
CESJDS is committed to enrolling students from diverse academic, religious and economic backgrounds. The School provides financial assistance to families who otherwise would not have the opportunity to benefit from a Jewish education. Awards are granted to over 25 percent of our families through our Tuition Assistance Program.
