Lincoln Aftergood (grade 7) Wins Inaugural Metropolitan DC Jewish Day School Spelling Bee

On Sunday, May 7th, nine students from Charles E. Smith Jewish Day School, Gesher Jewish Day School, and the Jewish Primary Day School of the Nation's Capitol competed in the inaugural Metropolitan DC Jewish Day School Spelling Bee. The spellers were Sara Breeze, Joshua Kelner, and Yonatan Scott from JPDS-NC, Eli Bardash, Braden Helfgott, and Sam Golden from Gesher, and Rebecca Gruber, Nathan Gershengorn, and Lincoln Aftergood from CESJDS.

Mazal tov to Lincoln Aftergood (CESJDS), the first ever Metropolitan DC Jewish Spelling Bee Champion, and kol hakavod to Nathan Gershengorn (CESJDS) and Joshua Kelner (JPDS-NC, and future CESJDS student) for placing second and third respectively.

Congratulations to all of the spellers and a special thank you to Gabrielle Plastrik and Rebecca Weisman (CESJDS), Arielle Nagle (Gesher), and Lisa Schopf (JPDS-NC) for helping coordinate and plan the bee.
